A sulphuric acid storage and distribution system was regularly interrupting supply to the plant due to unplanned failures. Detech Engineering were engaged to investigate the root cause of the issues and identify reliability improvements to ensure steady supply of product to the plant.
The investigation process clearly identified the need to manage water ingress to the system, as variations in concentration had a significant impact on metal loss. As a result this lead to equipment and process changes which minimised the impact of humidity and general water ingress to extend the life of the assets.
